Dear Senator Graham,
You say Democrats would do the same if they had the chance. Of course they would. Indeed, they did try in 2016, as they are constitutionally expected to do. And no one is saying you should not do it also, except for one small point: YOU PROMISED NOT TO. This was not a run of the mill, unless the Democrats do something I don’t like promise. It was a rock solid, our democracy depends on it, matter of principle promise. A swear up and down, we would never ever do such a thing, we are completely consistent in our opposition to appointing a justice in the last year as a matter of principle, use my words against me promise. Oh, never mind, now it’s MY guy doing the appointing. I’m afraid you have a rather low threshold of hypocrisy. Now you say that all these promises do not apply because of what Democrats did to Brett Kavanaugh. So, because you are personally offended that they asked some tough questions of one man, you are going to deny 350 million Americans an opportunity that you swore they deserve.
I have never agreed with you much, but I used to respect you as a man of principle. Where did that Senator Graham go? Have you no principles left? Does your promise mean nothing at all? As Joe Welch asked of Joe McCarthy, “At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
